Remember to show ALL work for homework.
Brief nightly homework will begin the week of September 8th.

Due by Friday, September 05:
(1) Complete the new Launchpad placement test in DreamBox. Because Launchpad is a math placement test, you are not allowed to have help on it.
(2) Complete at least 5 DreamBox lessons.

(1) Go to the "EOG Review: Fifth Grade" in 6+ Canvas. Go to the CONTENT SLIDE DECK and watch all of the videos for multiplication and division on slide 4. Also, review the posters on slides 5-7. We will discuss the videos and slides in class.

(2) 
EOG review activity: Fold a sheet of paper in half. Label the left side "multiplication" and the right side "division." For the multiplication side, use the problem 796 x 84. In the multiplication section, create a word problem and solve the problem using BOTH the area model and standard algorithm. For the division side, use the problem 4896 / 37. In the division section, create a word problem and solve the problem using BOTH rectangle sections and the standard algorithm.  

Due Thursday, May 07: Go to the "EOG Review: Fifth Grade" in 6+ Canvas. Go to the CONTENT SLIDE DECK and watch the video for multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, and 1000. Review the content on slides 8 and 9. Complete the problems on the right-hand side of slide 8 in your math notebook.

Due Friday, May 08:  Go to the "EOG Review: Fifth Grade" in 6+ Canvas. Go to the CONTENT SLIDE DECK and slide 10. Watch the first six videos for decimal operations. Take notes in your math notebook. Label the assignment "EOG Review: Decimal Operations."

Due Tuesday, May 12: Go to slide 10 using the "EOG Review Slide Deck" (link above).
- Click on the "Resource Guide" (long name in the middle of the videos list).
- In your math notebook, select two strategies (standard and a model) to show step-by-step how to solve problems on the following slides from the RESOURCE GUIDE: 3, 7, 12, 15, 18, 21. Solve all of the problems before watching the videos.
- Watch the video for EACH strategy explanation. Check your answers with the slides. 
-Be sure to "share" the cheesy song on slide 24 in the RESOURCE GUIDE...yes, watch the song video. ;-)


Due Wednesday, May 13: Go to slide 10 using the "EOG Review Slide Deck" (link above).
- Click on the "Resource Guide" (long name in the middle of the videos list).
- In your math notebook, select two strategies (standard and a model) to show step-by-step how to solve problems on the following slides from the RESOURCE GUIDE: 27, 29, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43. Solve all of the problems before watching the videos.
- Watch the video for EACH strategy explanation. Check your answers with the slides. 



Due Thursday, May 14: Go to the "EOG Review Slide Deck" (link above).
- Go to slide 21. Watch the two songs that are highlighted in yellow.
​- Review slides 22-31. Take notes on EACH slide in your math notebook--be sure to include specific examples. 
Label the video and write notes beneath it.​


Due Friday, May 15:  Go to the "EOG Review Slide Deck" (link above).
- Go to slide 32. Watch the videos in (1) Simplifying fractions, mixed numbers, and improper fractions AND (2) Adding and subtracting fractions.
- Take notes on EACH video in your math notebook. Label the video and write notes beneath it.

Review the content on slide 35.​Task: Write four word problems for "fractions as sharing." Provide the word problem, work, and solution (in simplest form) in your math notebook.

Due Thursday, May 21: Go to the "EOG Review: Fifth Grade" in 6+ Canvas or use the link above. Go to the CONTENT SLIDE DECK. Review the content on slide 39.
Task: Create four word problems for fraction multiplication. Write the word problem, show all work using two strategies: models/visuals AND standard algorithm, and your final answer in simplest form. Both models/visuals and the standard algorithm are required for credit.

Due Friday, May 22:  Go to the "EOG Review: Fifth Grade" in 6+ Canvas or use the link above. Go to the CONTENT SLIDE DECK and slide 39. ​

Task 1
: Review slide 39 and take notes (in your math notebook) on the two problems.

Task 2. Review slide 40 and complete the problems on the left side of the slide. Write if each problem is less than 2, equal to 2, or greater than 2. Include a justification (reasoning) sentence describing your thinking--use the right side of the slide as an example.
Task 3. Watch and take notes (in your math notebook) for the videos on slide 43.
